Balzac Paris puts ethical fashion at the center of its concerns. Committed to a responsible approach, we value natural materials in order to preserve biodiversity, in particular through a sustainable production method. Our collections include a wide range of products made from the healthiest materials possible, such as Tencel®, a natural and non-toxic cellulose fiber. Back to an ecological and innovative fiber that will soon populate your wardrobes!

What is Tencel®?

TENCEL® is a textile fiber produced from eucalyptus pulp. TENCEL® appeared in the 1980s as an alternative material that was not very democratized before becoming more and more popular today with brands as an ecological substitute for viscose. This artificial material is 100% cellulosic and requires very little water for its manufacture. Say goodbye to little responsible viscose tops!

How is Tencel® made? What is its composition?

TENCEL® is made from wood pulp . During its manufacturing process, cellulose - a protein present in the bark of wood - is extracted and then subjected to a spinning technique consisting in dissolving the material in a non-toxic solvent, thus avoiding polluting the waters used as many other subjects can do it. The environmental impact is then controlled and TENCEL® therefore appears to be an environmentally friendly material offering all the comfort and style of synthetic textiles. An alternative that we cannot do without!

Advantages of Tencel® or lyocell fabric

Are you still hesitating to consume a textile that you did not know a few minutes ago? However, the advantages of TENCEL® fabric are numerous. This environmentally friendly artificial fiber makes it possible to make clothes with many beneficial properties. A look back at the benefits of a material unlike any other.

A sustainable and eco-friendly fiber

As we have seen, TENCEL® is a material derived from a durable fiber, thus differentiating it from the many synthetic fibers that are usually found on the shelves of major brands. TENCEL® has the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) label certifying that the forests are treated in a sustainable way during the manufacturing process of this fiber.

Elasticity and resistance

Not only is TENCEL® an eco-friendly fibre, but it is also a material whose elasticity makes it very resistant. It is therefore estimated that the life of a garment made from this material will be much longer than other fibers. Thus, TENCEL® will have no trouble withstanding multiple washing machine cycles as well as regular wearing of the garment. Another way to get away from “fast fashion” a little more and keep your favorite dresses over the seasons!

A soft material

The other main quality of TENCEL® is its delicacy and pleasant feel. This fiber produced from wood pulp also has the advantage of being very soft, its texture approaching that of silk. It will therefore delight our fashionistas who can easily combine comfort and style! Similarly, TENCEL® also provides very good results in terms of moisture absorption (in the same way as merino wool, for example). Significant advantages to make our dressings responsible.

Tencel®: how is it worn?

At Balzac Paris, we offer more and more pieces made from TENCEL® . Little summer dresses, light tops and flowing pants, all the key pieces of the season are available in TENCEL®! At Balzac, we offer a wide range of trendy prints, ranging from country flowers to pointed leopard, as well as cuts adapted to all body types. So there is no longer any question of missing out on TENCEL®! Who said that style and ecology couldn't go hand in hand?
