Hello Rebecca! For those who don't know you, who are you?

Rebecca Benichou

My name is Rebecca Benichou, I am 35 years old and I am an interior designer. I set up my agency, Batiik Studio, 7 years ago already! Apartment renovation is mainly renovating, many which are dedicated to seasonal rental. But we also work on lots of different projects: art galleries, cafes, restaurants... and at the moment we are also working on a project ofHotel in Biarritz !

Did you have a particular crush on one of your last projects?

Rebecca Benichou

Yes ! We recently did A small apartment rue du Bac In the 6th arrondissement of Paris, which is called a "mini hotel" between us because it is dedicated to seasonal rental. He is very small : It is 24m2 ! But we really pushed the concept of the hotel industry so that it is a product different from what is usually found on airbnb type sites, everything is worked by color, everything has been made to measure, It’s a real little case.

Are there women artists who particularly marked you in your journey?

Rebecca Benichou

I would say the sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle. She is part of the Nice school and I come from Nice, I have been imbued since the childhood of her work and that of all the artists of this same school. I love his way of representing the woman who is not at all conventional, His very colorful work, with a lot of patterns, I find it very inspiring.

There is also Agnès Varda. I especially like the character! I saw all his films, but what I like is above all the woman she was, her look, Her iconic haircut, she is touching, she was strong but with a big heart!

If you could live 24 hours in the shoes of another woman, who would you choose?

Rebecca Benichou

It's a good question ! I always wanted to enter the army, don't ask me why, When I was little I even dreamed of being a fighter pilot. So maybe I would like to be 24 hours in the shoes of a military woman ! I think about it but I would also have loved being a web developer. I find it incredible to be able to crack codes, enter the web deeply ... I find it super exciting: You have to solve puzzles permanently!

If you hadn't been an architect, which job would you have liked to do?

Rebecca Benichou

Apart from military? Without laughing, I would have loved doing a business school and Raise lots of start-ups! I’ve already set up a business in the sense that I have my architecture agency, but it’s not the same thing. I love the idea of work on lots of different concepts, To have a thousand projects, wonder how to make it work, challenge yourself every day, I find it great and I think I would have been good in there. At a time in my life, I thought of going up something in parallel with my agency, but it already takes me so much time! And I am not at all to "work too much", I am to "work ... then take advantage". I obviously love my work and I am a hard worker, however, I also need to do other things, to have time for myself and to travel!

Do you have a message to send young women who want to become architects?

Rebecca Benichou

Even if they are often men who are famous architects, women are just as good, It’s not a matter of sex! All women can become excellent architects, we all have something new, a different look to bring. Nothing is impossible if you listen to your sensitivity!

Before we leave, can you tell us what are your favorite pieces Balzac Paris?

Rebecca Benichou

I like The Sally Léopard skirt (back soon), it is super pleasant, and above all it has pockets, so practical! the Black Bree T-shirt is super pleasant to wear, we feel very well in it, the cut and the material are top. And I love the print of the volute blouse (Coming soon))! The arrow ballerinas Also are very comfortable, my feet were quite wide, I was afraid of being too tight, and in fact not at all!
